Check a wallpaper for the depth effect — the parts you can fix
Pick a photo and your phone model: this page gives an exact resolution verdict against the panel's native pixels, overlays labeled bands showing where the status bar, clock, and widgets sit at that model's proportions, and measures the contrast of the image region behind the clock. The photo is decoded and measured entirely in your browser — it never leaves your device.
The verdict this page cannot give: your phone's own subject segmentation decides whether depth effect switches on. This site does not run Apple's model — no site can — so what is checked here is what can actually be measured: size, placement geometry, and clock-band legibility. Those are the three failures you can fix; the final call always happens on the phone.
How this checker works
Three things are measured. First, size: your image's pixel count is compared with the selected model's native panel resolution, taken from the same device table the wallpaper maker uses — every entry cross-checked against two independent published sources. Equal or larger in both dimensions passes; smaller in either means the phone upscales, which softens fine detail. Second, geometry: the overlay draws labeled wireframe bands for the status bar, clock, widgets, and the zone where a subject's top edge should land, at the selected model's proportions. Third, legibility: the average brightness of the image region behind the clock band, expressed as a contrast ratio.
The mapping matches what the phone does when it sets a wallpaper: the image is scaled to cover the panel and centered, and the clock band is projected through that same cover-fit onto your actual pixels. Brightness is sampled on a grid of up to 64×64 points inside that region and averaged using the standard relative-luminance formula; the reported ratio is the better of that average against a white clock and against a black one — the best case the system could get. On iPhone models the bands are derived from the layout's point measurements (status bar 0–60 pt, clock 110–210 pt, widgets 220–290 pt) scaled to native pixels; camera photos are drawn EXIF-orientation-safe, so a portrait shot is judged in portrait.
The honest limits: the depth decision itself belongs to the phone's subject segmentation, which this page does not and cannot run. The band positions are approximations recorded 2026-08-09 from published layout measurements, not system metrics — close enough for placement guidance, which is their only job — and on Android they are typical values, because lock-screen layouts vary by maker and launcher. The contrast number is a best case, not a prediction of the tone the system picks. And subject placement is judged by your eye against the band shown, because only you know what the subject of your photo is.
